Announced Allocation
The Announced Allocation increased by 3% on the 1st May to 76%, another 2% on the 1st June to 78% and another 2% on the 1st July to 80%.

No Water Statement with this Invoice
At last year’s AGM it was passed that EICL reduce to 2 meter reads per year, one at the end of the second quarter (end of September) and one at the end of the water year (end of March).

Therefore, no Water Statement comes with this invoice as no new meter reading was done.

Growers are reminded to clear around their meters before they are read next (late September – early October).

EICL AGM
EICL will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7:30pm on the 20th November, 2024 at the Eton Fire Shed.

Acrolein Injection Program
Customers will be advised once dates are determined.

Water Ordering
A reminder that the Board has instructed EICL staff that the 24 hours’ water ordering notice period as defined in the Scheme Distribution Rules and Service Targets is to be strictly enforced. Water orders on 07 4977 5840 stating:
• outlet number

Weekly Crop Water Use SMS
EICL sends an SMS each week to our customers with the sugar cane crop water use figures. Please contact Eton Irrigation on 07 49775850 if you do not want to receive the SMS.

Customer wishes to purchase 3ML permanent water
One of EICL’s customers wishes to purchase a 3ML (or close to) parcel of permanent water. If anyone has a suitable parcel that they wish to sell, please contact the EICL office and we will pass on your details to the buyer.

Change to the EICL Distribution Contract
To keep up to date with modern ideals and after legal advice, the Board has approved a change to our Standard Distribution Contract with regard to Modern Slavery. The text that will be added was not put in the last newsletter (an omission on EICL’s part). Therefore, EICL will restart the 3 month notice period from now.

Our website will be updated to reflect this change at the end of the required three-month notice period. The text that will be included is shown below.

Modern Slavery clause to be added to the contract at clause 30. Current clause 30, Miscellaneous to be renumbered to 31.

30 Modern Slavery
30.1 The Scheme Owner must:
not engage, and use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the Scheme Owner’s Personnel and Related Entities do not engage, in Modern Slavery;
comply, and use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the Scheme Owner’s Personnel and Related Entities comply, with Applicable Modern Slavery Laws where applicable; and
not use any Goods, Software or Services sourced in connection with performing the Scheme Owner’s obligations under this Contract that the Scheme Owner knows, or should reasonably suspect, have been wholly or partly sourced, made or provided using Modern Slavery.
30.2 Without limiting clause 30.1, the Scheme Owner agrees that it will immediately notify the Customer if the Contractor becomes aware of any actual, reasonably suspected or anticipated Modern Slavery engaged in by it, its Personnel or its Related Entities, and provide the Customer with adequate particulars of the Modern Slavery and the actions taken to remedy the Modern Slavery
30.3 The Scheme Owner represents and warrants to and for the benefit of the Customer that, as at the date of this Contract and on a continuing basis that neither the Scheme Owner nor, so far as the Scheme Owner is or ought to be reasonably aware, any of the Scheme Owner’s Personnel or Related Entities has engaged, or engages, in Modern Slavery.
30.4 The Scheme Owner acknowledges that all costs of compliance with this clause 30 are for the Scheme Owner’s own account.

The definition of Modern Slavery to be added to the end of the definitions list.
Modern Slavery – means serious exploitation of individuals for commercial or personal gain. This includes trafficking in persons; slavery; servitude; forced marriage; forced labour; debt bondage; deceptive recruiting for labour or services; and the worst forms of child labour, as defined in Applicable Modern Slavery Laws or relevant international standards from time to time. The worst forms of child labour means situations where children (ie, persons under the age of 18) are subjected to slavery or similar practices, or engaged in hazardous work.
