Job Vacancy at Eton Irrigation
The role
Eton Irrigation Co-operative Ltd (EICL) is searching for an Operator Maintainer based at Eton to start in the new year. This full-time position is an opportunity to contribute to the operation and maintenance of the co-operative’s irrigation infrastructure.
The salary range being offered is $50,000 – $75,000 per year
What you’ll be doing
- Provide excellent customer service to the co-operative’s 300+ members by fostering and maintaining good working relationships
- Deliver water to customers by operating and managing all operational assets including channels, pump stations, pipelines, water storages and other water distribution infrastructure
- Perform regular inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on all infrastructure and equipment
- Identify and rectify any issues or malfunctions in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted water supply
- Collaborate with the wider team to coordinate planned and responsive maintenance activities
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and equipment performance
What we’re looking for
- Basic technical skills in the civil, mechanical or telemetry maintenance fields
- The ability to organise and prioritise own tasks, to develop and implement solutions to routine problems, to operate effectively in a changing environment with peak workload demands, and to apply safe and environmentally responsible work practices.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, the team and all other stakeholders.
- Basic administrative skills, including the ability to use relevant computer software programs
- A demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
- Flexibility to work weekends and on-call on a rotating roster basis – 1 week in 3-4
- A current driver’s licence and holding or the ability to obtain other required certifications
This is a full-time position and would be suitable for anyone from a school leaver to an experienced tradesperson. Pay will be based on the successful applicant’s range of skills and abilities that are beneficial to EICL.
EICL does not anticipate that any person will have all the skills needed for this position – so learning on the job is expected.
